The sooner the lenders understand the importance of lending and helping first-time-buyers the better. They should not waste any time if we are to get the mortgage market going again

The emergence of new lenders would no doubt be an excellent opportunity for first time buyers, however the chances of this happening in the near future are slim to none. So the only option for the time being is for the current lenders to broaden their offers, which again probably won't happen any time soon as most people still aren't in a position to even consider buying. So we'll probably have to wait until mid 2010 until house buying really begins to pick up again.
