I recently use the moneysupermarket.com car insurance comparison service and wrote a post about how good the final outcome was and how competitive the best quote was.
The quote was from the Post Office and came in at what I thought was £141 with £50 cashback making a realsitic figure of £91.
I retrieved the quote today only to discover I needed to do more.
Firstly the reference number I used to retrieve the quote did not work so I called the Post Office, turns out my reference was actually for moneysupermarket.com but that was Ok because the operator could transfer the details.
Once she had the details the system gave a figure of £196 less the £50 cashback leaving £146 as the actual policy price.
Apparently the previous figure of £141 already included the £50 cashback but I don’t recall the information being that obvious, otherwise I would probably not have concluded otherwise.
So back to a local broker called Equity Insurance Brokers in Southampton who were the second most competitive before and now the most competitive with a quote of £136 including protected no claims discount and an excess of just £120.

Superb comments relating to car insurance. Interestingly enough I made a stand with reference to brokers not understanding the difference between registered keeper and the owner of the vehicle. We have problems with this when leasing cars. I wrote an article detailing the best approach with an insurance company to get the best results at problems with insuring a leased vehicle
